Fun Sculptures in Millennium Park

I went downtown last week for the tulip show and found these fun, cute sculptures by Franz West. I really liked the way they sort of towered over the landscape without being imposing. It was a cooler day, but there were still a couple of children playing on them which was cute and encouraged. Chicago has a history of public art that’s meant to be interacted with in that way.

The sculptures are bright and whimsical and I like the way they stood out against the manicured flower beds, the newly budding trees, and dull the concrete of the walkways and benches.

It was just these two pieces, but I’m glad I got to discover a new artist. I haven’t gone through the tulip pictures yet, but I will be posting them soon.

Let me know what you think about these sculptures and if you’ve been to Chicago in the comments. Thanks for reading.

The sculptures have nice spring colours and look fun. I’ve been to Chicago and enjoyed Millennium Park when I was there. Thank you for your public art share.

You’re welcome. Spring is really a great time to visit and Chicago is a great city for public art so much beauty to take in.

I saw them in person and I’m not sure what they’re supposed to be either. But they did remind me a bit of maybe abstracted trees. I know that area of the park has art that the public is meant to interact with and kids really love it. I bet on a warm day with kids running around in the fountains you’d see them having fun with those sculptures too.
